The shipping company Cadeler announced last week that it had raised 635 million DKK in a share issue. At that time, the company already announced that the money would be used to finance the purchase of a new ship for installing foundations for offshore wind turbines worth 2.4 billion DKK.

That investment has now been implemented, and the contract has been signed with the supplier Cosco Heavy Industries, Cadeler said in a press release.

The ship, a so-called F-class vessel, will be the fifth in Cadeler's fleet, making the shipping company's fleet the largest in the offshore wind industry. With the new ship, Cadeler will be able to offer a complete solution within the transport and installation of offshore wind farms.

- The development of our fleet is an important strategic priority in order to meet the increasing demand for installation capacity. We are proud to once again push the boundaries in our industry by being able to deliver the most efficient vessels for the most complex and largest offshore wind projects, says Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler A/S.

Discussing major installation contract in the North Sea

The new F-class vessel is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2025. Cadeler has also been given an option to order another vessel from Cosco Heavy Industries. The new F-class vessel will be built to the same specifications as the two X-class vessels that Cadeler has already ordered from Cosco Heavy Industries.

This means that the vessel will have a deck area of 5,600 m2, a working height of over 200 meters and a cargo capacity of more than 17,600 tons. The F-class vessel will also have a unique design that will allow the vessel to quickly convert from working with the installation of large-scale foundations to being an installation vessel for very large offshore wind turbines. Here, it will be able to install up to six XL monopiles (weight 2,300-2,600 t each) per trip.

Cadeler states that it is currently discussing a large contract for the installation of large-scale foundations in the North Sea starting in the second quarter of 2026.
