Cadeler has entered into an agreement to acquire the jack-up vessel Boqiang 3060 from Shanghai Boqiang Heavy Industry Group. The vessel will be renamed Wind Keeper. The acquisition is part of a strategic expansion of Cadeler's fleet and is intended to strengthen the company's capacity within O&M services for the offshore wind sector, Cadeler said.

Wind Keeper was completed in 2024. It is equipped with European technology such as a Huisman main crane with a lifting capacity of 2,200 tons, Kongsberg DP2 system, MAN engines and Siemens propulsion system. The vessel's 120-meter-long jack-up leg makes it suitable for demanding offshore conditions.

Cadeler did not disclose the price of the vessel, but indicated that it was purchased at a price "significantly below market value". The vessel is expected to be delivered in Q3 2025, and Cadeler is planning upgrades to adapt the vessel to their other fleet and future assignments in the 15 MW segment.

- We evaluated all available vessels and Wind Keeper was the obvious choice. She is future-proof, technologically advanced and ready to operate – meaning she can create value faster than a newbuild. We thank Boqiang Heavy Industry Group and ABC Leasing for the good cooperation that enabled a smooth transaction, says Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler.

Cadeler highlights that Wind Keeper can quickly generate revenue as it is already launched and ready for operational operation. The total investment including upgrades has not yet been disclosed.

- With the rapidly growing installed base of offshore wind turbines, there is an increasing need for reliable and flexible O&M services that ensure uptime and maximize energy production. Wind Keeper, as an installation-capable and service-oriented vessel, will be a valuable addition to our fleet, says Mikkel Gleerup.

The company is currently assessing the positive effect Wind Keeper can have on their 2025 revenue and EBITDA.
