During the period 6-9 December, several sections of road on a 95 km long route from Brande to Hvide Sande will be closed for short periods. The reason is that a giant wind turbine is to be transported from Siemens Gamesa in Brande to the port of Hvide Sande. Here, the wind turbine will be loaded onto a ship and sailed to Hanstholm before being transported to the test center in Østerild. This is reported by Dagbladet Holstebro-Struer.
A great deal of preparatory work precedes the transport. Planning the route has taken two years. According to the newspaper, several trees along the route have either been pruned or completely felled. In addition, around 1,000 signs have been turned to make room for the turbine transport, which is approximately 11 metres wide. Normally, turbines from Siemens are loaded in Brande from the Port of Esbjerg, but due to the size of this turbine, it has not been possible to find a suitable route there, says Olav Nielsen, a case officer at the Danish Road Directorate.
- You can hardly imagine the extent of the work. I have no idea how many lamp posts will have to be taken down for a short time. Road signs have been changed so that they can be quickly lifted out of a foot and put back again shortly after the transport has passed. And there are a lot of signs involved, he says.
