Viking Life-Saving Equipment has long had a keen eye on the company HydroPen and their special fire extinguishing system for container ships. HydroPen was founded in 2016, and the following year contact between Viking and HydroPen was established, and from 2018 Viking became the exclusive distributor. The collaboration has been so good that Viking is now acquiring HydroPen.
- This is an important acquisition for Viking and for safety in the container shipping industry. Once a crew has become familiar with HydroPen, there is no going back – and since its introduction, the system has already proven its worth in real firefighting situations. Recently, HydroPen has also attracted interest among land-based fire departments, who have been quick to see the value of the system, says Lasse Boesen, Senior Product Manager at Viking.
Viking Life-Saving Equipment is a global market leader in marine, offshore and fire safety solutions. In 2017, the HydoPen system won the Danish Tech Challenge entrepreneurship award, and the system has subsequently won the Safety at Sea award.
