AARHUS: With Mayor Jacob Bundsgaard (S) at the helm as chairman of the port's board, the Port of Aarhus will continue its development in the coming years, with Agneta Björkman also continuing as vice chairman. This is the result after the board was constituted on Tuesday. This is stated by the Port of Aarhus in a press release.

In connection with the constitution, three new members have also joined. These include former director of DI Transport Michael Svane. In addition, former councilor of Aarhus Bünyamin Simsek (V) and city council member Jan Ravn Christensen (SF) have joined the board.

The new board will be responsible for a period that is strategically very important for the port's future. Already this year, the Port of Aarhus management expects that the authorities will give the green light to the company's application for a port expansion. The expansion will then be initiated as soon as possible, but is not expected to be fully completed until 2050.

According to CEO Thomas Haber Borch, the Port of Aarhus is facing a number of essential decisions in relation to creating a new port section with terminals that in a few years can receive intelligent ships that sail autonomously and safely into the port on fossil-free fuel.

 - The technological development in our industry is really fast, and it is driven by very large and strong players. Therefore, there is no doubt that what we know today as a commercial port will be changed by new research, development and innovation in the near future, says Thomas Haber Borch, CEO of the Port of Aarhus.

In addition to the above, the Port of Aarhus board now consists of Logistics Director Ole Thomsen, lawyer and partner Line Markert, Chairman of the Board Lars Fournais and Pilot Tom Linneberg (elected by the employees).
