Pump specialist Svanehøj is currently investing a double-digit million in restructuring its production with new machines and robots to support the company's growth strategy. These investments already appear to be paying off.
The changes in production have resulted in a significantly better flow, and Svanehøj is now processing significantly more orders than they did just a year ago. In fact, so many that the previous production record from 2015 has been broken three months before the end of the year, the company said in a press release.
Although investments in machines and robots have yielded benefits, Svanehøj itself points to new roles for some employees as the reason for the company's progress in production.
At the beginning of the year, the company chose to assign three of its assembly employees a concurrent role as production coordinators. Their task is roughly to keep track of whether their respective teams are completing the tasks that have been planned and whether they have everything they need to complete them.
- This is not a management role, but a task-coordinating function, and organizationally it has been a huge success. The cooperation that has arisen between foreman, planning and production coordinators has played a very significant role in our success in achieving a much higher turnover, says Mikkel Bülow Bundgaard Sørensen, Head of Production at Svanehøj.
In 2021, Svanehøj was able to report a record order intake of more than 740 million. DKK. This has led to a significantly increased level of activity in 2022, which production has managed to handle in a distinguished manner. Against this background, Svanehøj is steering towards a growth in turnover of around 80 percent. compared to 2021.
This must be seen in relation to the fact that the production staff has grown by almost a third over the past year to now approximately 90 employees.
