ODSHERRED: From June 1st, it may become expensive for citizens of Odsherred Municipality to heat their homes.
On Tuesday, Odsherred Forsyning presented price increases that could increase the price by up to 76 percent for a standard 130 square meter home.
A single citizen tells TV 2 Øst that his heating bill now looks set to increase by DKK 13,000. per year.
And the heating cost in a standard home can increase to almost 28,000 kroner per year if you, as a homeowner in Odsherred Municipality, also rent your district heating unit from the utility company, writes DR.
Odsherred's mayor, Karina Vincentz (Nyt Odsherred), is, to say the least, outraged by the price increases and tells TV 2 Øst that she and the city council are considering legal action against the utility company.
- I am surprised because there have been previous assessments that said that this price would be too high, not only for the citizens, but also to ensure that the company would be sustainable in the future. When you have such a high price, there are new customers who will come and join, she says.
CEO of Odsherred Forsyning, Pernille Indgildsen, defends the price increase to DR.
- When you look at the situation the company is in now, it has to happen now. The price at Odsherred Forsyning has been set very low for several years. The last three years the price has been very low and that meant that there was actually a deficit in 2024, she says.
