ESBJERG: If the politicians in Esbjerg have their way, the West Jutland city will host an annual summit on energy with the participation of international business leaders, researchers and politicians. All parties in the municipality's economic committee support the plans, and have therefore allocated DKK 2.2 million on Monday for the development of the summit. This is reported by JydskeVestkysten.
The summit in Esbjerg will be a counterpart to the economic summit for world leaders in Davos in Switzerland. Esbjerg will thus attract decision-makers from the energy industry and the political world. It is expected that the event will not be held until 2026 at the earliest. In addition to Esbjerg Municipality, the financing will come from private companies, the Region of Southern Denmark, state support programs and EU funds.
- It is great that there is such massive support for the idea of an energy summit - both politically and from the business community. I had indications from a few large companies that it was something they would support, but since the idea was publicly presented in an article in JydskeVestkysten just over a week ago, there have been several concrete inquiries from the business community, says Mayor Jesper Frost Rasmussen (V).
