The EU should ban the import of Russian oil by the end of 2027 at the latest. The EU Commission will present a proposal to this effect at the beginning of the new year.
This is what EU Commissioner for Energy and Housing Dan Jørgensen said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The press conference comes after an agreement was reached between EU countries and the EU Parliament on Wednesday night to ban the import of Russian gas in 2027.
- In addition to banning the import of Russian gas, we will also go after the remaining imports of Russian oil to the EU.
- At the beginning of next year, we will present a proposal to ban the import of all Russian oil. We will have to do it as soon as possible. And no later than the end of 2027, says Dan Jørgensen.
