ODSHERRED: Odsherred Municipality's municipal director Claus Steen Madsen is receiving public criticism from the city council for inadequate information about a contract with a spin doctor in connection with the district heating scandal. The city council has agreed on this at the latest city council meeting, writes SN.dk.
Claus Steen Madsen denies having provided incorrect information, but regrets that he was not more clear about the elements of the contract.
"The city council finds it objectionable that the finance committee and the city council have been presented with inadequate and incomplete information about price, contract length and tasks in connection with the management's employment of communication consultants," reads a compromise proposal from the Social Democrats during the meeting.
Anna-Louise Attermann (Nyt Odsherred) called the criticism of the municipal director "a public slap in the face" during the city council meeting.
In November 2024, Odsherred Municipality hired Peter Arnfeldt and the communications agency Geelmuyden Kiese to handle the scandal in Odsherred Forsyning. Initially, the appointment was presented as a six-month contract for 300,000 kroner, targeted communication about the district heating case.
But when a radical city council member requested access to the case and the contract, it turned out that the agreement ran for 12 months, was non-cancellable and contained provisions about 24-hour staffing, strategy seminars and political advice, writes Sjællandske Nyheder.
