Production on the Tyra field in the North Sea has been underway for some time, but today marks the official reopening of Tyra II. It is praised by Dansk Metal, which sees the project as an important contribution to Denmark's energy supply and economy. After several years of closure, Tyra II means that Denmark can once again extract large quantities of natural gas from the underground. This is what Dansk Metal writes.

- It is a good day for Denmark. With Tyra II, we will become more self-sufficient in energy and less dependent on gas from Russia. This is important both for Denmark's security, for our economy - and for the many jobs that are part of this, says Claus Jensen, chairman of Dansk Metal.

According to Claus Jensen, oil and gas will continue to play a role for many years to come, even though Denmark is working towards climate neutrality. He emphasizes that the Danish fields in the North Sea can in the future be used to store CO2 and thus become part of the solution to the climate crisis.

We will still need oil and gas for many years to come, and we should therefore continue with the extraction towards 2050. It is better that we produce it ourselves – instead of importing from Russia or the Middle East. It provides both jobs and income for Denmark, and then we have control over our own energy supply, says Claus Jensen.
