Nicola Mavilla will take up the position of Senior Vice President of Exploration at TotalEnergies on 1 November 2025. He replaces Kevin McLachlan, who has held the position since 2015. TotalEnergies announced this.
Mavilla has 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and comes from a position as Head of Exploration Projects at Eni. He has previously been Head of Exploration in Libya and Norway, Vice President of Exploration in West Africa as well as in the Americas and Northern Europe and has been CEO of Eni in Côte d'Ivoire. He holds a PhD in geology from the University of Bordeaux.
TotalEnergies invests around $1 billion annually in exploration and appraisal and focuses on projects with the potential for low-emission and low-cost development. Over the past three years, the company has made major discoveries in Suriname and Namibia, among others.
