ODSHERRED: The controversial Odsherred Forsyning is going bankrupt. This is happening less than two months after a rescue plan that was supposed to prevent the company from going bankrupt was adopted.
It was specifically a reconstruction plan for the company, which was initiated because the subsidiary Odsherred Varme has accumulated a debt of almost 1.5 billion DKK after a district heating project went awry. Odsherred Varme is also undergoing reconstruction.
However, it has not been possible for Odsherred Forsyning, which is also undergoing a sales process at the same time as the reconstruction, to meet the statutory deadlines. The company writes in a press release:
"Since it is not possible to complete the ongoing sales process within these deadlines, the reconstructor has notified the Bankruptcy Court in Holbæk on August 20, 2025, that the reconstruction treatment should cease. The Bankruptcy Court will then take Odsherred Forsyning A/S under bankruptcy treatment, which is expected to happen at the scheduled meeting of the bankruptcy court on August 27, 2025," the utility company writes.
According to the utility company, the bankruptcy treatment has no impact on either the operations, employees, customers or suppliers of Odsherred Vand A/S, Odsherred Spildevand A/S, Odsherred Tømning A/S, Odsherred Forsyningsservice A/S or Odsherred Varme A/S.
In July, Odsherred Municipality was acquitted of liability in the case, which has had major financial consequences. Back in July, Odsherred Municipality's guarantee obligation increased from 592.5 million DKK to 599.3 million DKK, with the municipality liable for the full amount.
