Giles Dickson has decided to step down as CEO of the European wind industry association, WindEurope, in the second half of 2025. The decision is not to take up another directorship. Instead, he has decided to return home and become a school teacher in the UK. WindEurope writes.
- I am incredibly proud of the progress that wind energy has made in Europe over the past ten years. I thank everyone at WindEurope for their commitment and support and the many people who have contributed to developing wind energy in my time. After many years outside the UK, I am looking forward to returning home and giving something back to the community I come from. But wind is a fantastic industry, it is a privilege to work for, says Giles Dickson, CEO of WindEurope.
The organisation's board has initiated the process of finding his replacement. The board has set up a nomination committee consisting of selected board members, including the chairman and vice chairman. Until a new CEO is in place, Giles Dickson will continue in his current role.
- It is a testament to Giles’ commitment to the green transition that he will ensure a smooth transition and leave WindEurope stronger than when he arrived. Europe faces a crucial challenge to regain competitiveness and secure its energy supply, and wind plays a central role in this. I am therefore very pleased that we have a wind energy champion like Giles to educate future generations, says Henrik Andersen, Chairman of WindEurope’s Board.
