Vestas has received a 26 MW order for the Kapuni Wind Farm in New Zealand from Hiringa Energy Limited. The order includes the supply and installation of four V162-6.4 MW EnVentus wind turbines and a 20-year service agreement. Vestas said in a press release.
The Kapuni project is being developed in a partnership between Hiringa Energy, Balance Agri-Nutrients, Todd, PKW and MBIE, with Hiringa Energy responsible for development and operation. The project is among the first major wind projects in New Zealand to connect directly to the electricity grid and at the same time support PtX production in the form of green hydrogen. According to the parties, the project will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in transport, energy, industry and agriculture.
Deliveries of the turbines are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026, while commissioning is planned for the second quarter of 2027.
