Developers will build electricity grid themselves after Energinet delays

Large Danish energy developers are ready to take over parts of the expansion of the electricity grid and substations, after delays at Energinet have hampered the pace of the green transition. Eurowind CEO Jens Rasmussen explains to Finans that the developers can save up to several years in project execution if they are allowed to be responsible for the grid connection themselves.

- When Energinet is heavily burdened with many tasks, we think it is very obvious that we can be allowed to contribute with the knowledge and experience that we have in building these projects (around grid connection, ed.), Jens Rasmussen tells the media.

Energinet has not yet received any concrete offers for independent grid expansion, but the company is open to private players taking over parts of the tasks. Operations Director Søren Dupont Kristensen emphasizes, however, that planning the electricity grid remains with Energinet, while the execution of certain tasks can be delegated.
