BORNHOLM: A majority of the Economic and Climate Committee in the Bornholm Regional Municipality has decided to follow the administration's recommendation to put the plans for a business park on hold. The decision is due to the fact that Energiø Bornholm has been put on hold by the government. Mayor Jacob Trøst (K) explains that it does not make sense to continue the project when it is uncertain whether a land facility will be established at all. This is reported by TV 2/Bornholm.
- As long as we do not know whether a land facility will be established, it does not really make sense to continue working on it. We have difficulty entering into a dialogue with landowners about placing a business park on a field if there is nothing else out there that proves that we should put the business park right there, says the mayor.
The preliminary decision is being criticized by the business community, where several had been looking forward to an energy business park. It is pointed out here that work should continue to attract green companies that may be ready if the energy island is realized at a later date. The final decision on the business park will be made by the municipal council later in March.
