Donald Trump will roll back President Joe Biden's ban on new gas and oil drilling in large areas of American waters. Trump said this at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago in the state of Florida.

On Monday, the White House announced that Biden will ban new gas and oil extraction in areas along large parts of the American coast. But Trump will cancel that plan as soon as he becomes president, according to Trump, who will be inaugurated on January 20.

- President Biden's initiative from yesterday regarding offshore drilling - the ban on offshore drilling - is not going to last. I will roll it back immediately. It will be done immediately. And we will drill, baby, drill. We will drill a lot in other places, and energy costs will drop significantly, says Trump.

Will put an end to new wind turbines

On the other hand, he emphasizes that he has no qualms about wind turbines. Trump will thus try to ensure that no new wind turbines are built in the United States. He refers to wind turbines as "garbage" scattered across the American landscape, and says that wind turbines "drive whales crazy".

- Energy from wind turbines is the most expensive form of energy ever, says Trump.

The future president also says that he has made an agreement with the company Damac for investments worth 20 billion dollars - 14 billion kroner - across the United States - including investments in data centers. Damac is headed by billionaire Hussain Sajwani from the United Arab Emirates.

The press conference is the first that Trump has held after he was officially declared the winner of the latest US presidential election on Monday.

This happened during a count of electoral votes in Congress.
