Semco Maritime and Zamakona Yards have entered into a strategic alliance and established Las Palmas Shipyard, which will function as a unified platform for upgrades, maintenance and repair of rigs and special vessels. The yard is already operational and will serve rig owners, offshore operators and customers with special vessels from the base in Las Palmas. Semco Maritime and Zamakona Yards announced this in a press release.

- Las Palmas Shipyard is located in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean and brings together more than 50 years of experience in the energy sector and the maritime industry. We combine Semco Maritime's expertise in complex project integration and execution with Zamakona's long-standing maritime heritage and shipyard capabilities to form a unique alliance that offers world-class solutions delivered directly at the quay, says Nikolaj Vejlgaard, Senior Vice President, Rig and Marine at Semco Maritime.

The yard is located centrally in the Atlantic Ocean and will support offshore activities in, among others, West Africa and Europe. The facilities include deepwater berths of up to 22 meters and more than 650 meters of berthing space with shore power. In addition, the area contains around 15,000 square meters of outdoor storage and 4,000 square meters of workshop and office facilities.

The facility also includes an offshore workshop with heavy lifting capacity, including two 50-ton overhead cranes and three 5-ton overhead cranes, as well as service areas with 11 meters of hook height and large access doors. This will enable the implementation of, among other things, rig upgrades, life extensions, vessel modernization and major offshore modification projects.

- We look forward to benefiting from Semco Maritime's deep engineering competencies in structured project management, commercial control and technical expertise across complex EPCI and modification projects. Our strategic alliance with Las Palmas Shipyard represents a long-term commitment to collaboration, operational excellence and value creation for the offshore and marine industry,” says Eduardo Gil, Commercial Director, Zamakona Yards.

Las Palmas Shipyard will provide integrated solutions that include engineering, fabrication and installation, as well as upgrades to electrical systems, automation systems and safety systems. The alliance will also coordinate logistics and supply chains to execute projects from a single team.
