THISTED: The proposal for a 150-meter-high tower with a price tag of 70-90 million DKK aroused enthusiasm at a meeting of the Climate, Environment and Technology Committee in Thisted, writes Nordjyske. According to the presentation, the tower should be located near the Østerild Visitor Center and thus help attract even more visitors to the area.
- This would be a good supplement to, for example, Thy National Park, Østerild Visitor Center and Hanstholm Bunker Museum. At the same time, it would help promote Thisted Municipality as a climate municipality, says the committee's chairman Esben Oddershede (V).
The proposal is that the municipality will be responsible for the project in the establishment phase, and the amount will mainly be sought from private investors and foundations. According to Oddershede, it would be obvious to ask the major wind turbine manufacturers Siemens and Vestas as well as DTU, which already runs the Østerild Visitor Center, but at the same time would have to find 20-25 percent of the price under municipal auspices.
