Statkraft sells its stake in Europe's largest onshore wind farm

9. MAR 2021 13.59

Norwegian Trønderenergi and German Stadtwerke München have purchased Norwegian Statkraft's 52.1 percent stake in Roan Wind Farm for an undisclosed amount, writes E24. Roan Wind Farm is one of six wind farms that make up the so-called Fosen expansion, which with an output of 1,057 MW is currently Europe's largest onshore wind project.

With its 71 wind turbines, Roan Wind Farm has a capacity of 255.6 MW and an annual production of approximately 900 GWh. The wind farm delivered its first electricity in 2019. Until now, Statkraft has owned 52.1 percent, Trønderenergi 7.9 percent, while the Swiss company Nordic Wind Power has owned and continues to own the remaining 40 percent.

- We have been preparing for a long time to be able to take part in the growth in wind power in central Norway. The acquisition of Roan Wind Farm is an important part of that strategy, and we are pleased that we have succeeded in the acquisition, says Ståle Gjersvold, CEO of Trønderenergi.
