Dejbjerglund Efterskole has erected a new 25 kilowatt Logic household wind turbine, which, together with a future 120 kilowatt geothermal system, will halve the school's heat consumption from external sources. The total investment of 2.3 million DKK is expected to result in annual savings of around 300,000 DKK on wood pellets alone. According to principal Kjeld Christiansen, the decision is a consequence of the high energy prices that years ago during the energy crisis put pressure on the school's finances, when the school's price for purchasing wood pellets almost quadrupled. This is reported by Dagbladet Ringkøbing-Skjern.
Despite being located in Denmark's leading municipality within green energy, Ringkøbing-Skjern, Dejbjerglund Efterskole is the first post-secondary school in the municipality to have invested in a wind turbine. Kjeld Christiansen, who is the principal at Dejbjerglund Efterskole, hopes that more post-secondary schools will follow in their footsteps in the future.
- We have been building jumping centers, synthetic tracks and music rooms for 20 years. I have been a part of that myself. Now we are investing in sustainable energy and ensuring that we can also exist even if energy runs out, he says.
