Citizen loses case against Lemvig Municipality regarding household wind turbine

30. OKT 2025 10.42

LEMVIG: Lemvig Municipality has been acquitted in a case brought by citizen Frank Vilstrup, who wanted to be allowed to keep his household windmill. He had hoped that the municipality would handle the case according to rules that could grant permission for the windmill, which was set up in 2022, but the district court ruled in favor of the municipality, writes Dagbladet Holstebro Struer.

Frank Vilstrup finds the decision frustrating, as the area around his property already contains large solar cell plants and energy projects. "It seems a bit frustrating that we can sit and look at an 18-meter-high tower on the PTX plant, and it lights up when it gets dark. Now it will become a commercial area, while we cannot be allowed to have a household windmill," he says.

He is now considering, together with his lawyer, whether to appeal the verdict. He estimates that he can sell the windmill for between 200,000 and 250,000 kroner if it ends up being dismantled.
