The expansion of solar and wind energy on land is slow in Denmark, and according to Climate Minister Lars Aagaard (M) and several experts, municipalities are the key to speeding up the development. This is reported by Altinget

- We in the Folketing have a broad ambition to increase the amount of renewable energy on land, but that ambition rests, among other things, on a very clear principle that there must be local support. Therefore, it is also important that you take a position and understand that as a municipality you are not an island in society, but part of a whole where everyone has a shared responsibility, says the minister, pointing out at the same time that the upcoming municipal elections could be decisive for how much speed electrification will gain in the coming years.

The industry organization Green Power Denmark shares the assessment that the key to green progress lies in the municipalities: "They are the ones who must ensure that local plans and projects are made that can enable expansion so that Denmark can be electrified to an even greater extent. This year's municipal elections will therefore also be a super important milestone in the history of Denmark's green transition," says Director of Renewable Energy Camilla Holbech.
