GreenLab becomes home to one of Denmark's largest batteries

In collaboration with Eurowind Energy and BOS Power, GreenLab is establishing one of the country's largest battery storage facilities, which will create flexibility and stability in the green energy system.

GreenLab will house one of Denmark's largest battery storage facilities when a new 44 MWh energy storage facility is ready by the end of 2025. The solution is being developed in collaboration with Eurowind Energy and BOS Power.

The battery – a so-called Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) – will be integrated into GreenLab's infrastructure and the associated hybrid energy park, which combines 84.8 MW of wind and solar power with an annual production of 200-220 GWh.

The BESS facility will help balance the fluctuating production from wind and solar with the energy consumption of industrial companies in the area. This allows for so-called peak shaving, where companies can shift their electricity consumption away from peak periods and thus create a more stable and efficient energy system.

The battery will also contribute to flexibility and stability in the national electricity grid and make it possible to utilize green electricity when it is produced and where it creates the greatest value.

- We are not only helping to house new technology, we are helping to shape its future. The new battery solution is an important piece in making our internal energy system more efficient. It strengthens the balance between renewable energy production and industrial consumption and creates real value for the companies in the park and for the green transition as a whole, says Thomas Helsgaun, CEO of GreenLab.
