The US state of New Jersey has canceled a planned offshore wind tender with a capacity of four GW. The decision follows Shell's withdrawal from the only remaining project and Donald Trump's inauguration as president. This is reported by Recharge News.
The tender, which was the fourth round in New Jersey, was launched in the summer of 2024. Atlantic Shores, which Shell owns together with France's EDF, was the only remaining project with a bid of 1.3 GW after Totalenergies and RWE withdrew in the fall.
- A number of reasons led to this decision, most notably Shell's withdrawal as an equity partner in the Atlantic Shores project and withdrawal from the US clean energy market, as well as uncertainty driven by federal actions and permits, said Christine Guhl-Sadovy, head of the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.
