The planning work for Aflandshage Wind Farm is progressing. Previously, it was agreed that Siemens Gamesa will deliver the turbines. Now Hofor, which is behind the project, has found another important supplier for the project.
The utility company has thus entered into a contract with the construction company Per Aarsleff, which will be responsible for the design, production and installation of the foundations for the wind farm, which will be located in the Øresund ten kilometers south of Amager. This is stated by Per Aarsleff in a statement.
The 26 foundations, which will be between 17 and 25 meters high and will weigh up to 4,000 tons, will be constructed as gravity foundations, with the concrete production taking place as prefabrication at Aarsleff's factory in Swinoujscie, Poland. Here, the foundations are cast directly on barges, which are then transported to Aflandshage, where the foundations are installed on the prepared seabed with the help of a special vessel.
- Aarsleff was among the pioneers in the establishment of offshore wind farms and has helped drive the development over the past 20 years. We see great potential for farms built with gravity foundations and are pleased that we can contribute to solutions with more green energy, says Jesper Kristian Jacobsen, CEO of Aarsleff.
Installation of the foundations will take place in the first half of 2025 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2025. The entire Aflandshage Wind Farm is scheduled to be ready for use in 2026.
- In Hofor, we are looking forward to starting the first visible works on Aflandshage Wind Farm. With a total output of up to 300 MW, the wind farm will be able to produce electricity that corresponds to the consumption of around 300,000 households in the Øresund region. This is an important step for the green transition – and so are the foundations themselves, says Henrik Plougmann Olsen, CEO of Hofor.
The parties do not disclose the value of the contract for the delivery of the wind turbine foundations.
