A new coastal offshore wind farm in Øresund has come a step closer. Thus, the Danish Energy Agency has turned its thumbs up to the environmental impact report that has been prepared for the Aflandshage Windmill Park, which is to be located between the southern tip of Amager and Stevns, the agency states in a press release.
Hofor Vind (Hofor) is behind the possible wind farm. The utility company plans to set up 25-45 offshore wind turbines with an installed power of up to 300 MW within an approx. 42 km2 large area. Møller will have a maximum height of up to 220 m and the distance to the coast will be a minimum of eight km.
The board emphasizes, however, that approval of the feasibility study report does not give Hofor permission to build the offshore wind farm, but merely the opportunity to proceed to the next steps in the application process, i.a. to apply for an establishment permit.
"The Danish Energy Agency will only take a final decision on whether an establishment permit can be granted for the project, once a public hearing has been carried out on the application for an establishment permit on the basis of the now approved environmental impact report," says the Danish Energy Agency.
In Hofor, people are happy about the approval.
- We must now work on the final approval, and I would like to emphasize that it is an important task for us to continue the dialogue with the citizens, organizations and municipalities who have expressed concern in connection with the consultation process. HOFOR expects to apply to the Danish Energy Agency for an actual establishment permit as soon as possible, which will also be subject to public consultation, says Henrik Plougmann Olsen, who is the CEO of HOFOR
Hofor hopes that Aflandshage Wind Farm can deliver first power in 2025.
