Cerius invests in a stronger electricity grid for Rødby

Cerius invests 70 million DKK in increasing capacity and replacing overhead lines with underground cables

The grid company Cerius is investing approx. 70 million DKK in upgrading the electricity grid in and around Rødby. The investment is intended to strengthen security of supply and meet the increasing demand for electricity in the area. The company states this in a press release.

As part of the project, almost six km of overhead lines and wooden masts will be removed, while approx. 17 km of new high-voltage cables will be laid in the ground. In addition, several transformer stations will be upgraded to ensure a stable supply in the future.

- Without a strong electricity grid, we will not succeed in electrifying society, which is a crucial part of the green transition. That is why we are constantly looking at where the development in customer demand is growing fastest, and where it requires expansion of our grid. One of those places is Rødby, where construction and transport, among other things, place massive demands on the electricity grid, says Planning Manager at Cerius Frederik Dalgård Andersen.

Part of Cerius' investment is also work on the grid company's transformer stations in the area, so that they can also ensure a robust supply in the area in the future. Nexel is responsible for carrying out the project, and Hans Grundtvig Lindrum, Head of Function at Nexel, says that the focus is on high execution ability, so that the electricity grid can meet the new demand as quickly as possible.

- We are busy expanding the electricity grid, and there is a really high level of construction activity across Zealand and Lolland-Falster. And this will continue for the next many years. When we expand transformer stations and reinforce cable lines, speed is of course an important parameter so that new electricity customers can benefit from all the benefits of electrification as quickly as possible, he says.
