On Monday, Hofor announced that it has chosen Siemens Gamesa to supply 26 pcs. 11 MW turbines, which will make up Aflandshage offshore wind farm approx. ten km south of Copenhagen in 2026.
However, the order is not only new for the wind turbine manufacturer. Thus, the wind shipping company Cadeler can be pleased that Siemens Gamesa has given them the task of installing the 26 turbines, which are scheduled to be ready in 2026 to supply power to 300,000 Danish households. The order with Siemens Gamesa marks a comeback for Cadeler in Danish waters after several years of only having installed turbines abroad, the wind shipping company states in a press release.
- It feels good to be back on home soil to install wind turbines in Øresund and not least to be part of this well-prepared project together with HOFOR and Siemens Gamesa. We have installed offshore wind turbines of this size and capacity many times before, and we look forward to once again being able to use our expertise, knowledge and assets to meet the urgent need for more green power for the Danes, says Mikkel Gleerup, CEO at Cadeler.< /p>
Cadeler will use one of the company's O-class ships, which at the start of the project will be equipped with the new, larger main crane with a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes.
Aflandshage is one of a number of planned offshore wind farms in Danish waters, which will deliver green power to Danish homes in the coming years. Last year, a majority in the Danish Parliament decided to quadruple the production of solar and wind energy on land by 2030, while the capacity of wind power from offshore wind turbines must be increased fivefold.
