Cadeler has just taken delivery of its newest installation vessel, Wind Pace, which now joins the company's growing fleet of specialized jack-up vessels for the construction of offshore wind farms.
Wind Pace is the second of Cadeler's two newly built P-class vessels and will be the seventh vessel in the fleet. The delivery was both on time and within budget, the company said.
The ship, built at the COSCO shipyard in China, marks an important step in Cadeler's strategy for global expansion.
After delivery, Wind Pace will proceed directly to the USA, where the vessel will work on a major offshore project from the second quarter of 2025 to the first quarter of 2026 - Cadeler's second in American waters.
The sister ship Wind Peak was delivered in August 2024 and has just started installing wind turbines on the large Sofia Offshore Wind Farm off the British east coast.
More capacity, lower energy consumption
Wind Pace and Wind Peak are both designed to handle the increasingly larger and heavier turbine technology of the future.
The ships can transport up to seven complete 15 MW turbine sets or five turbines in the 20+ MW class in one trip, which streamlines installation time and reduces the number of sailings.
With a deck area of 5,600 m² and a lifting capacity of 2,600 tons, Wind Pace is among the market's leading installation vessels. The vessel is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system and is prepared for future operation on green methanol. Systems for energy recovery and storage are also integrated into the design.
- With the P-class, we are setting a new standard for offshore installations. Wind Peak has already proven its worth, and we expect Wind Pace to play a key role in the expansion of offshore wind globally, says CEO Mikkel Gleerup.
