Port of Aalborg is now taking the first step in yet another effort to increase the level of safety and security in the entire Port of Aalborg port area. This time it concerns the Bladt Industries terminal at Østhavnen, which will be completely closed to unauthorized persons during the summer.

- Both Bladt Industries and ourselves have long had a desire to tighten both safety and security. The port area, which includes Bladt's production area, has been part of the port's secured area since 2004, but access to the area is now to be further tightened, so that it gradually resembles what we know from, for example, airports, says Port Captain at Port of Aalborg, Claus Rosenbeck.

Bladt Industries is among the world's leading suppliers of offshore wind turbine foundations and has both an administration building, factory and warehouse halls, and quay facilities at Østhavnen. The area is now being completely closed off in conjunction with the Port of Aalborg, which owns the facilities.

- Bladt Industries is already located in the so-called ISPS area, which is an international safety order for the protection of shipping traffic. Now we are closing it all off permanently, and the previous barrier system is being replaced with a brand new gate system for registration and deregistration, says Claus Rosenbeck.

The work on securing the terminal at Bladt Industries is just one of several areas of focus that Port of Aalborg has initiated in recent years to improve security. This is being done as part of continuing to be able to meet the increasing demands for securing port facilities.

The strengthening of the security level in the ISPS area at Bladt Industries is the first stage at the East Port, after which work will begin on the remaining facilities at the port, with the bulk terminal as the next stage.
