Carlsberg Group has entered into three new, long-term power purchase agreements in Norway, Sweden and Finland. The agreements are intended to strengthen the brewing group's work to cover all of its electricity from new renewable energy plants. Carlsberg A/S announced this in a press release.
In Norway, Ringnes will purchase 435 GWh over ten years from the Fennefoss hydroelectric power plant through the energy company Å Energi. In Sweden, Carlsberg Sweden has entered into an eight-year agreement with RWE for electricity from the Orken wind farm in Halland, which produces around 25 GWh per year. In Finland, Sinebrychoff has made a ten-year agreement with Encavis for electricity from the Paltusmaki wind farm, which has an annual production of around 60 GWh.
The three agreements mean that Carlsberg's total coverage of renewable electricity via PPAs increases from around 10 to 21 percent. and thereby contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and increasing the amount of new, green energy capacity in the Nordics.
- Securing renewable electricity through Power Purchase Agreements is a cornerstone of our sustainability program. The new agreements across the Nordics enable us to accelerate the green transition and support the development of additional renewable energy capacity, says Torsten Steenholt, EVP Integrated Supply Chain at Carlsberg Group.
