Five health apps get thumbs up and are recommended by authorities
The Health Apps Committee is ready with its first five recommendations for health apps.
These are the five apps: My Doctor, My Bones, Stress Autism Mate, Hedia Diabetes Assistant and SelfBack.
The committee writes this in a press release via the Danish Medicines Agency, to which the committee belongs.
The apps that the committee selects will be displayed on a list of recommended apps on sundhed.dk.
A list of apps recommended by the committee is intended to give citizens a better overview.
In the committee's own words, it can "be a valuable contribution to treatment when the citizen is in contact with the healthcare system, but also to prevention and to better health on the citizen's own initiative".
The chairman of the committee, CEO of the Capital Region of Denmark, Erik Jylling, says in the press release that the recommendations are intended to "show users the way to a valuable supplement to the existing offerings in the healthcare sector".
- It also speaks to our overall objective to contribute to ensuring that new technology can strengthen the entire healthcare sector and citizens' ability to manage their own illness and health, it says.
There are a wide range of different healthcare apps on the market, and they offer many possibilities.
They can be inspiration for a healthier lifestyle or an opportunity to follow the course of an illness.
But it can be a bit of a jungle to find your way around the many apps.
The goal of the Health Apps Board has been to make it easier for citizens to navigate the many apps. At the same time, it must create reassurance that the apps they recommend are of high healthcare quality.
The Health Apps Board was established by the Minister of the Interior and Health. It is part of the government's digitalization strategy from November 2023.
It works in such a way that suppliers of healthcare apps can apply to the board.
They must meet a number of criteria: evidence of effect, user-friendliness, reasonable price and social value.
Erik Jylling states that the board is currently processing additional applications from other apps.
