Esbjerg: Tyra II is producing gas again, and the work is almost complete. This has implications for employment at one of the subcontractors to TotalEnergies in Esbjerg.
The company Altrad Services A/S in Esbjerg has already laid off 60 employees in the salaried group. This means that the layoffs will come with a notice period of at least three months. The CEO of Altrad Services A/S confirms the layoffs.
- The work on Tyra is drawing to a close, and it can be compared to a transition to normal operation and maintenance. That is why we unfortunately have to say goodbye to some employees, says Jens Mørk and elaborates:
- These are salaried employees and salaried-like employees who have management responsibilities as foremen.
There are layoffs of hourly employees who have shorter notice periods, but it depends on when the work is finally completed on Tyra.
- Later we will look at the hourly employees, but I do not have a date yet. It is something we are talking to Total about depending on the need, he explains.
Job opportunities elsewhere in the group
While Altrad Services A/S in Denmark has 1200 employees, of which around 80 percent work in Esbjerg, the parent group is worldwide, and this is now being put into play.
- We are trying to find people work either in the UK or Norway for those who want it. It is an ongoing process that we are working on, says Jens Mørk.
TotalEnergies expects to reach full production capacity on the Tyra field in approximately 3.5 months. At that time, the Tyra facility will produce 5.7 million cubic meters of gas per day.
