The end date for the Danish oil and gas adventure in the North Sea has been set. However, it is still far in the future, and now a small new chapter in history is being written.
Thus, TotalEnergies has found additional gas condensate in the Harald field in the Danish part of the North Sea in connection with the so-called Harald East Middle Jurassic well (HEMJ-1X). The company, which is the operator of the Harald field, states this in a press release.
These are apparently resources that are manageable to extract. In any case, TotalEnergies states that the HEMJ-1X well will immediately be connected to the Harald platform and is expected to start producing before the end of the year through the existing Harald and Tyra facilities.
- The successful establishment of the Harald East Middle Jurassic well near our Harald facility shows the strength of our exploration strategy. This additional discovery on the Harald field will contribute to the Danish energy supply by increasing our existing production in the North Sea in line with the National Compromise,” says Kevin McLachlan, Senior Vice President Exploration at TotalEnergies.
The HEMJ-1X well is located in shallow water 250 km off the Danish west coast in the eastern part of the Harald field. It found 48 meters of net gas condensate in a good quality reservoir.
TotalEnergies is the operator of the Danish Underground Consortium with a working interest of 43.2 percent, together with joint venture partners BlueNord (36.8 percent) and Nordsøfonden (20 percent).
