Kristian Gjerløv-Juel is at the helm of one of North Jutland's largest companies and has a clear message: the lack of local infrastructure for international families is hindering growth. This is what Nordjyske writes.
- Because our employees come from all over the world. And they need nurseries, kindergartens, schools, cultural and leisure activities as well as jobs for accompanying spouses. This is where North Jutland is holding back, says Kristian Gjerløv-Juel, CEO of Centrica Energy Trading.
The company has 400 employees spread across 42 nationalities and last year had a profit of DKK 606 million after tax. But problems with retaining and attracting foreign workers take up more than the economy.
A specific problem is the capacity of North Jutland's only international school, Skipper Clement School in Aalborg.
- We have lost employees because there is a waiting list for the international school, and we have experienced candidates dropping out when they discovered that the complete package for the family was not available, says Kristian Gjerløv-Juel.
Centrica has donated 5 million DKK for an expansion, but it is not enough. He calls on other local companies to contribute and believes that both business and local politicians must take responsibility.
