As part of a comprehensive efficiency improvement project worth over DKK 100 million, Ribe Biogas has eliminated downtime through technical conversions of the plant's installations.
Ribe Biogas has produced green energy for more than 30 years and is today among the country's oldest biogas plants. The latest expansion, which was initiated in 2023 with a budget of over DKK 100 million, has aimed to optimize operations and reduce the downtime that previously limited production.
A central part of the work has been the collaboration with HS-Tec, which specializes in technical solutions for biogas and energy plants. Through conversions of existing installations and carefully planned shutdowns, the collaboration has ensured that the plant now runs stably and without interruptions.
- The fact that we have eliminated downtime is a big step for us. We can now operate the plant with maximum uptime, where both process control and safety systems function without interruption. This means that we can deliver stable green energy to the natural gas grid around the clock, and that we are even stronger in the green transition, says Stefan Hansen, operations manager at Ribe Biogas, in a press release.
According to HS-Tec, biogas plants place special demands on planning, material selection and safety, as the installations must function under explosive and corrosive conditions. Experience from Ribe shows that close dialogue and clear areas of responsibility can be the key to eliminating downtime in complex energy plants.
HS-Tec contributes with certifications within quality management, environment and occupational health and safety, as well as documentation that ensures that the plant meets the EU's requirements for energy and critical infrastructure.
- We must be more than just a supplier. Our ambition is to be a technical partner who can take responsibility for the entire process from the first drawings to the finished installation. The collaboration with Ribe Biogas is an example of how trust, integrity and close dialogue produce results – both in relation to the extent of operational failures and a stronger technical platform to build on, says Simon Duesberg Jensen, department manager HS-Tec.
