Firefighter Per Medom Olesen from Crossbridge Energy was named the winner of the Safety Award 2025 at Dansk Offshore's annual safety conference in Esbjerg Music Hall on Thursday. The winner was selected through a live vote among the conference participants. The industry organization announced this in a statement.
Per Medom Olesen, known as "Brandmand Per", was nominated for the award, among other things, on the grounds that he is "a legend in the industry with a towering safety standard and a sublime overview." The public supported the nomination and gave him the most votes - a recognition that pleases his colleagues at the refinery in Fredericia.
- Per is a beacon and a culture bearer in the area of safety with us, and has been for three decades. We know what Per stands for here at the refinery in Fredericia. So I am personally pleased on Per's behalf that his great work is also widely recognized in the industry. It is more than well deserved, says Michael Sandbæk, HSSEQ Manager at Crossbridge Energy.
The Safety Award is presented each year by the industry organization Dansk Offshore to a person, a team or an organization that has made a special effort to strengthen safety in the workplace.
- At a time when our industry is changing, and increasingly greater demands are placed on employees in complex working environments, it is important that we honor a person who has made an extraordinary effort in safety. It is a natural end to our annual safety conference that we pay tribute to a person whose behavior is an example to follow, says Martin Næsby, CEO of Dansk Offshore.
The other nominees for Dansk Offshore's Safety Award 2025 were Søren Assenholf Muff and Kathryn Mansfield, both from INEOS Energy.
