This is the second time in a short time that drones have been observed on the Danish fields in the North Sea. Last week, drones were observed on the Halfdan field, which is shown in the picture here.

Unauthorized drone activity has been observed again in the North Sea over the weekend. This time at the unmanned gas field Roar, which is one of the satellite fields connected to the Tyra field in the North Sea.

The Danish National Police confirms in an email to DOI.dk: "The Danish National Police can confirm that we have received inquiries about drone observations over the weekend. The Danish National Police currently has no further comments."

It has not been possible to get a comment from TotalEnergies, which operates the Roar field. The Danish Energy Agency has also not wished to comment on the report.

It has therefore not been possible to confirm that it is actually a drone in the air at a gas field approximately 230 km from Esbjerg out in the North Sea.

However, it cannot possibly be just an unfortunate drone that has strayed into the North Sea, says Jan Egnsted, director of WeFly, one of Denmark's leading drone companies that carries out inspections of critical infrastructure such as bridges and district heating.

- Only advanced drones can do that. An ordinary commercial drone cannot do that, he tells DOI.dk

- My assumption would be that the drones were launched from a ship or a submarine. It is certainly not an ordinary drone that has gotten lost. You need a picture of the drone to be able to say more, but you can rule out that someone did it for fun, says Jan Egnsted.

It has been less than a week since unauthorized drone activity was observed at another gas field in the North Sea.

There have also been at least six sightings of unidentified drones in Norway within the 500-meter safety zone around the drilling platforms. The Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway has subsequently sent a letter to the authorities and companies operating at the Norwegian oil drilling platforms, in which they call on all operators and owners of vessels to exercise increased vigilance.
