ODSHERRED: Odsherred Municipality has now hired a spin doctor and a large communications agency to handle the media, after Odsherred Forsyning was ordered into restructuring on October 22. In total, the municipality has spent DKK 500,000 on external communications consulting. This is reported by Sjællandske Nyheder.
The municipality has hired Geelmuyden Kiese, Scandinavia's largest communications company, and advisor Peter Arnfeldt. Peter Arnfeldt has previously been a spin doctor for, among others, Troels Lund Poulsen (V) at Christiansborg, but now has his own PR agency.
According to a document access request that Sjællandske Nyheder has received, it appears that Peter Arnfeldt will help with media training and ensure that the municipality's communication is proactive and preventive.
Lawyer investigation underway
A timetable was recently set for when the first answers to the review of Odsherred Forsyning will be available. The lawyer investigation, which is being carried out by Bech-Bruun, is due to be completed this summer, but a partial report will be ready as early as April. This is what Sjællandske Nyheder writes.
The city council initiated the legal investigation in the wake of the failed district heating project, which had significant budget overruns. The investigation will, among other things, uncover whether the municipality should be criticized for its handling of the case, and whether it would have been possible to react earlier.
The investigation will delve into nine points, the first three of which deal with self-obligor guarantees, the domicile construction and the guarantee to Odsherred Varme. These three points have the highest priority and will therefore also be dealt with first. Odsherred Municipality and Odsherred Varme are sharing the bill for the investigation. Currently, all values in Odsherred Varme are being calculated to get an overview of the company's debt servicing capacity, as this is crucial for how the debt of 1.4 billion kr. will be settled.
