The villa in Esbjerg, which offshore entrepreneur Henning G. Kruse had built in 1999, is now changing hands without payment. Instead of selling the property, Henning G. Kruse's Foundation has chosen to donate it to the University of Southern Denmark. This is reported by JP.dk.
The foundation's funds and the villa come from businessman Henning G. Kruse, who built a fortune through several maritime companies in Esbjerg. He was known as the founder of Esbjerg Oilfield Services A/S (EOS) and co-founder of the guard ship company Esvagt as well as companies such as Westcoast Offshore Base A/S and Denerco K/S. In 1999, he built a 400 square meter villa next to the sculpture Mennesket ved havet. Henning G. Kruse, who died in 2022, has bequeathed the villa to the non-profit foundation that, among other things, supports research and business development in Esbjerg and Southwest Jutland. The villa was most recently for sale for 40 million DKK, but it will now be donated to SDU.
- SDU's most important task is to create value for and with society through research and education, and this donation will support that. We have many ideas about how we can use the building, and we will now prepare a detailed plan for its design and operation, says Jens Ringsmose, Rector of SDU.
