Many more people than before have problems paying their gas bills, which are currently sky-high if you heat your house with natural gas. This is reported by Fagbladet 3F.
Two of the country's largest energy companies are reporting a greatly increased demand for installment plans, which can be applied for if you are unable to pay your bill.
At SEAS-NVE, which supplies gas to 140,000 private customers throughout the country and is the country's largest gas supplier, CEO Ole Christian Vestergaard says that the number of customers requesting an installment plan on their gas bill has doubled.
For gas customers at SEAS-NVE, the gas price has increased by up to a staggering 250 percent. as a result of the energy crisis and the war in Ukraine.
- Whereas a year ago there were close to 1,000 people who had applied for an installment plan, the number is closer to 2,000 this year. We also receive far more inquiries from customers with various questions about prices and supply of electricity and gas, says Ole Christian Vestergaard.
400,000 Danes heat their homes with gas
Around 400,000 Danes heat their homes with gas. 65,000 of them are customers of Energi Fyn, which is the country's fourth largest energy company. Here too, the sad news is that a record number of customers are contacting us with a desire for an installment plan because they cannot pay their bill. This is according to Finn Andersen, commercial director at Energi Fyn.
- We can see an increase of approximately 80 percent in the number of people requesting an installment plan. People who previously had a heating bill of 5,000 now get a bill of 12,000, and many are worried, Finn Andersen tells Fagbladet 3F.
Finn Andersen says that some of Energi Fyn's gas customers will replace their gas boilers as a result of the rising prices.
- It definitely has something to do with the energy uncertainty. Normally, a natural gas boiler can last 12-15 years, but we get inquiries from many who want to switch to an energy-efficient solution much sooner, he says.
