Next week, work will begin to rebuild a silo at Flemløse Biogas, where an accident occurred in November that claimed three lives. Kurt Brusgård Poulsen, director and main owner of Flemløse Biogas, confirms this to Fagbladet 3F. The cleanup will begin on Tuesday, and the work is expected to take three weeks.

- And then there will probably be a couple of weeks of inspection to see if anything has happened to the structure. If there is nothing, then we will start rebuilding the formwork, he tells Fagbladet 3F.

The work of rebuilding the concrete silo will be done a little differently this time than in November. Now towers will be erected past the structure, so that it will be possible for those casting the roof to use a safety line. This way, people are prevented from going inside the silo, the director tells Fagbladet 3F.

The expectation is that the expanded biogas plant can be put into operation by October.

Three dead in work accident

The accident took place on Tuesday, November 26. Workers were pouring a roof on the concrete silo, but the roof fell because the mold was unstable and collapsed. An employee fell 25 meters in this connection, the Danish Working Environment Authority has previously reported.

Flemløse Biogas is located near Glamsbjerg on Funen. There were a total of ten people working on and near the roof of the silo when the accident occurred.

Three people died, six people were injured, and one person escaped unharmed from the incident. The killed and injured were employees who came from Romania, Poland and Belgium. They are aged 19-49. In the first 24 hours after the accident, one person was missing, but he was later found dead.

Flemløse Biogas received two immediate orders from the Danish Working Environment Authority after the fatal accident. The work had not been reported to the Danish Working Environment Authority, which is in breach of working environment regulations, the decision from the authority stated. At the same time, there was no safety organisation on the construction site that complied with the law.

There are also other companies that have received immediate orders in connection with the incident.
