Work is underway to establish a new cable connection between Hellerup, Nordhavn and Amagerværket, where a cable trench will be dug from the coast in Hellerup to Nordhavn and on to Amagerværket. This is reported by Energinet.

The total length is 12 kilometers, and the project is expected to last until the fall of 2025. The work involves burying the submarine cable to protect it from loose anchors and other disturbances. The process depends on weather conditions, available equipment and maritime considerations.

On land, preparations are already underway. Energinet's contractor has begun excavation between Amagerværket and Nordhavn, and from March, work will continue between Nordhavn and Hellerup. A racing course in the area will be temporarily out of use.

The submarine cable is expected to be laid in July and completed in August, when weather conditions are most suitable. Before laying, the cable trench is cleaned of sediment, after which the cables are covered to allow the marine environment to recover.

The work will be completed in August and September, when the submarine cable is connected to the land cable. This final step will take place locally and is not expected to significantly impact the surroundings.
