Since March 9, the turbines in the wind farm on Thorup-Sletten in the municipalities of Jammerbugt and Vesthimmerland have been operating illegally. However, the blades of the turbines have continued to swing, and they will continue to do so while new investigations are being conducted, writes TV2 Nord.

- We have had a legal assessment of what we need to do, what is stated in the rejection order, and what our options are. The lawyer has recommended that we continue with the wind turbines as they are now, says the chairman of the technical and environmental committee in Jammerbugt Municipality, Jens Christian Golding (S).

The reason for the controversy surrounding the wind farm is that the Planning Appeals Board concluded at the beginning of March that insufficient consideration had been given to the birds, the harrier and the bittern, in the studies for the project. Therefore, the EIA studies and local plans were cancelled.

Eurowind, which is behind the wind farm, has started new bird studies. The company is pleased that the turbines will not be stopped.

- They say that there is no acute danger to the birds. I think it is important that everything is studied in the right way. Things need to be in order, says Joachim Steenstrup, press officer for Eurowind Energy.

Previously, Joachim Steenstrup has denied to DK Vindkraft that they have been too quick to build the turbines when there were complaints in the Planning Appeals Board.

- I don't think we have moved too quickly. There has been a complaint period of over three years, should we have waited until now? I find it very difficult to see that we should have done it differently, he said immediately after the Planning Appeals Board's decision.
