African Clean Energy Developments (ACED) has placed an order for 144 MW with Vestas for the Khangela Emoyeni wind farm, which will be built in the Western Cape, South Africa. Vestas announced in a statement.
With the order, Vestas will deliver a total of 32 units from the first half of 2025. V163-4.5 MW wind turbines and a ten-year AOM 5000 service agreement. The turbines are scheduled to be operational during the first half of 2026.
- ACED and African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) have had a relationship with Vestas that dates back to the beginning of the wind energy industry in South Africa in 2011. We are very pleased to place another order with Vestas, says Sam Cook, ACED’s project manager for procurement and construction.
The order is ACED’s second for V163-4.5 MW wind turbines in 2024. In June, they placed an order for 144 MW for the Umsinde Emoyeni wind farm, also located in the Western Cape, South Africa.
- We are proud to continue our collaboration with ACED in South Africa. "We are also pleased to see how the reliability and high capacity factor of our V163-4.5 MW wind turbines are providing our customers with the business certainty they need for their projects in the country," says Novani Ganess-Johnson, CEO of Vestas in South Africa.
