Vestas carries out share split

Vestas has adopted a 1:5 share split. Vestas will remain worth the same as before, but this may entice more people to trade the stock.

At Vestas' annual general meeting on Thursday, it was decided that Vestas would implement a share split in the ratio of 1:5. This will split each existing share into five, so that each existing share of nominal value DKK 1.00 will be divided into five new shares of nominal value DKK 0.20.

Vestas' share capital is currently nominally 201,973,425, but will in future be divided into five times as many shares, 1,009,867,260. The plan is for the share split to be implemented in the period 26-28 April.

Vestas' value will be the same as before, but it will now be "cheaper" to trade the share, as the unit price is now lower. Therefore, even though the shares in principle have the same value, it could tempt more people to trade Vestas shares, as it has now become cheaper to get involved.

However, it is not certain that the stock split will lead to more trading in Vestas shares. It is largely about how the market and private investors react to the stock split, i.e. financial behavior, which can go both ways.
