The Liberal Party in Holstebro wants to drop green energy projects

Disappointment that hydrogen pipes from Germany will only reach Esbjerg is causing politicians to back down on renewable energy planning.

HOLSTEBRO: If it's up to the Liberal Party's mayoral candidate in Holstebro, Kenneth Tønning, the municipality must stop spending money on planning renewable energy plants. His announcement comes in Holstebro Dagblad, after the government recently dropped plans to build a hydrogen pipeline from Germany to Holstebro, but will only run it up to Esbjerg.

- We have not been compensated for the expenses we have and have had in relation to planning wind turbines and other energy plants. Even though we have called for it. Putting a stop to the expansion of green energy that does not directly benefit Holstebro Municipality and its citizens in the form of jobs is immediately the only means of pressure we have, he tells the newspaper.

He at least wants to get a date for when the hydrogen pipeline will be brought to the municipality, so that it and the companies have something to plan for. But Climate Minister Lars Aagaard (M) believes that it is impossible to answer, he tells the newspaper.

Østerby: Threats do not work

Mayor H.C. Østerby (S) disagrees, however, that a stop to renewable energy planning is the right way to go, although he is also disappointed that the plans for a hydrogen pipeline to Idomlund near Holstebro have been shelved for the time being. He says this to Holstebro Dagblad

- I don't think that Christiansborg will change its view on the hydrogen pipeline because we threaten not to install more green energy. We cannot threaten the government with anything, he says, and instead calls for drawing on the contacts and collaborations that one has to influence the politicians in the parliament.

However, he agrees with his Liberal colleague that the municipality no longer needs to rush to install wind turbines and solar cells, and that one must work to get a year for when the hydrogen pipeline will reach Northwest Jutland.
