In the spring, the North Sea Summit was held in Esbjerg, where Denmark, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands signed the Esbjerg Declaration and agreed to deliver at least 65 GW of offshore wind in the North Sea by 2030 and increase capacity to at least 150 GW by 2050.< /p>

Now Denmark is again inviting to a European offshore wind summit in the form of the Baltic Energy Security Summit, which will be held on 30 August. It learns Altinget and TV2 Bornholm, just as DK Vindkraft has also confirmed the story from several sources.

It is not yet clear who will be represented at the summit, but just like in Esbjerg, e.g. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen attends. In addition, ministers from Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland and the Baltics are also expected to participate.

There are great opportunities in offshore wind in the Baltic Sea. The EU Commission estimates the potential for offshore wind at 93 GW, which corresponds to green power at 105 million. Danish households. This is almost a third of the energy from offshore wind that, according to the Commission, the EU must use until 2050.

Joy at Green Power Denmark

It is only a few weeks ago that Green Power Denmark's director, Kristian Jensen, in a column in Børsen, called for the plans to exploit the wind resources in the Baltic Sea to be boosted.

"When countries come together in regional collaborations, the development of offshore wind and energy infrastructure can be done in a much more efficient way," wrote Kristian Jensen in the chronicle, it further read:

"The sooner Europe shows action, the faster consumers and companies will turn their eyes away from fossil fuels, which threaten our freedom and security, and towards green technologies."

The power to act is therefore evident now with the summit on Bornholm. It brings joy to Kristian Jensen.

- It is an important signal that the meeting is at Prime Minister level. This means that political capital is invested in the green agenda, and that civil service and industries at home in the other Baltic Sea countries also tune in, he tells the Alting.

The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Supply has not wanted to confirm or deny whether the summit on Bornholm will take place opposite DK Vindkraft.
